Wellness Wheel
The Wellness Wheel: Your Holistic Guide to a Balanced, Aligned Life
I was meditating in my car, on the side of the highway, during my pilgrimage to Key West in 2022. I was trying to maintain structure in my life while in a period of complete chaos and flux. While I was meditating, the vision of a "Wheel of Wellness" came through.
The concept was a wheel, with separate sections like slices of pie, that come together to make a complete, whole life. I saw physical, mental, financial, family, business and a few others. From there, I wrote as many important things that I could think of as it relates to each category.
Six months later when my white girl pilgrimage ended, in treatment, at Florida House Experience (FHE). I was doing a group activity... and given an actual Wheel of Wellness- or as the psych world calls it, Wellness Wheel. It mirrored mine almost identically. I was given a worksheet to fill in with as much information as I could think of for each of the 8, clinically-official, categories.
-
Physical wellness
-
Emotional wellness
-
Spiritual wellness
-
Intellectual wellness
-
Environmental wellness
-
Financial wellness
-
Social wellness
-
Occupational wellness
I sat there, appreciative of the alignment and in acknowledgment of the truth that is cemented in moments such as that.
Behind the scenes, the magic and quantum workings at play in moments such as those are...
Truth and creation coming through when connected to the cosmic consciousness in meditation. You can call this "reading the akashic records" or whatever else you might like, but a good visual example is... me opening a meditation, was like me opening a book filled with the information I needed to know in that moment to reach balance within my system. Although I don't see a great library and checkered floors like some guided meditations prompt, it is literally just doing a guided a meditation and an answer, a "download", a knowing comes through.
I like this visualization to describe the Askashic Records because it is simple, it is grounded. It is definitely a lot easier to tell people you had an idea while meditating rather than trying to explain the Akashic Records to a normy.
It is not an elaborate decent into what looks like a grandiose library containing millions of books with an alien guard. My experience has been simple. Knowledge coming through as a download. And I say "download" because unlike thought that is processed. A download is instantaneous.
Additionally, like a book at the library, when I put the book back on the shelf and walk away, the next person can open the same book and the same information will still be there. It's not a uniquely incredible idea that I brilliantly created. That kind of thinking makes the ego inflate and go bonkers. It has happened to me before and always, very unsuccessfully leads to me being very manic.
The perspective that keeps you grounded and in-connection with the divine and consciousness, is always gentle (sometimes feverous) gratitude.
The information, the answer, the truth already existed and presented itself to me during my meditation. I was lucky enough to be given the information that I was looking for upon entering the library, in the first place! What a lucky day! And how magical, to be sitting in such harmonious alignment.
If you have ever had a business idea and later find out the business exists. It's the same idea! Rick Ruben speaks on this frequently. Creativity as a wave trying to find someone to channel it through into reality, by making it a tangible creation.
In addition to the resonance of truth that came through in that moment, it was also a reminder of why I chose to go through with treatment in a traditional, medical setting.
In the beginning, I was terrified by the idea of treatment. I didn't want to lose my gifts. However, I knew that truth prevails, curiosity is everything, and experience based knowledge is power.... and if I lost my gifts... maybe they were mental illness after all and having them subside might make my life easier and more "normal".
Thankfully, time and time again I found that there are two sides to the same coin; one side being esoteric, the opposite side being clinical. The one coin all together, ultimately represents the same thing. For me, knowing both sides has made me incredibly more grounded in being able to explain exciting phenomena and keep my cool around normies.
Going to treatment gave me words, definitions, tools, and research to turn to instead just the "woowoo".
It is great wisdom to have both the clinical experience and the esoteric knowledge from my yoga teaching certification, reiki master attunement, and many other spiritual courses. To be able to comfortably explain bizarre occurrences from all sides and help other people translate their experiences too! Whether this is normy to woowoo or woowoo to normy it is important to have all the angles covered to avoid further institutionalization (haha) and be taken seriously.

Let's take a closer look at the wheel 😊
In today’s fast-paced world, “wellness” is often treated as a checklist — drink water, go to yoga, sleep eight hours. But true well-being is so much deeper. It’s not just how you feel physically. It’s how aligned, supported, and fulfilled you are across all areas of your life.
That’s where The Wellness Wheel comes in.
The Wellness Wheel is a holistic framework used by coaches, therapists, and wellness practitioners to help people create balance across multiple dimensions of life. Instead of focusing on just one area — like fitness or emotional health — the wheel highlights how your physical, emotional, spiritual, financial, environmental, and social wellness all connect.
When one area is out of alignment, the whole wheel wobbles. When they’re all nourished, your life flows.
Below is a breakdown of the 8 dimensions and how you can start strengthening each one.
1. Physical Wellness
Physical wellness is more than exercise — it’s how you treat your body as a whole.
This includes movement, nutrition, hydration, sleep, and daily habits that support the body’s natural energy.
Ask yourself:
-
Do I feel energized throughout the day?
-
Am I moving my body consistently in ways I enjoy?
- How is my nutrition contributing to the way my body feels?
Small shift to try: Add a 10-minute morning stretch or walk before checking your phone. Notice what you are eating and how you feel 30 minutes after. I find meat to put me in a downer mood. You may not. It is completely personal but awareness is key!
2. Emotional Wellness
Emotional wellness is your ability to recognize, understand, and express your emotions in healthy ways. Knowing your triggers and boundaries ahead of time and preparing yourself accordingly.
It’s also about emotional regulation, self-awareness, and self-compassion.
Ask yourself:
-
Do I allow myself to feel my emotions without judgment?
-
Do I have tools to manage stress?
- What may be triggering today? How would I like to handle that situation or avoid it?
Small shift to try: Start a 3-minute daily check-in: “What am I feeling? What do I need? What are my boundaries? What are my triggers?”
3. Social Wellness
Humans are wired for connection. Social wellness reflects the quality of your relationships and your ability to create community.
Ask yourself:
-
Do my relationships support my growth and well-being?
-
Do I feel connected or isolated?
- Are there any groups I should join for more community?
Small shift to try: Reach out to one person today who makes you feel grounded.
4. Spiritual Wellness
Spiritual wellness is about meaning, purpose, and alignment — not religion (unless that’s part of your path).
It’s your connection to something greater and your inner guidance.
Ask yourself:
-
Do I feel guided and grounded?
-
How can I make my daily routine feel more like a ritual of meaning that I enjoy?
- Do I feel like I am living with a sense of purpose?
Small shift to try: Create a 2-minute gratitude ritual before you go to bed. Grattitude oozes positive energy that keeps circling your life.
Thank yourself for making it through the day, recognize and really relive tiny special moments, and do an overall life inventory of gratitude.
5. Intellectual Wellness
This dimension is about curiosity, creativity, and mental stimulation.
It’s what keeps your mind sharp, expanding, and inspired.
Ask yourself:
-
Am I learning new things regularly?
-
Do I challenge myself mentally in ways that feel good?
Small shift to try: Add listening to a podcast or audiobook on a topic you are interested to your daily routine. Maybe in the morning, on the way to work. Or during lunch? Find a time that aligns with your normal daily schedule to make it manageable!
6. Occupational Wellness
Occupational wellness reflects how fulfilled and aligned you feel with your work — whether it’s a career, business, or passion project.
Ask yourself:
-
Does my work energize me or drain me?
-
Do I feel like my skills and strengths are being used?
Small shift to try: Write down 3 tasks that bring you joy and 3 that don’t. Notice the patterns. Are there ways you can delegate the 3 tasks you don't enjoy? Or have an honest conversation with your boss about them?
7. Financial Wellness
Financial wellness is about stability, clarity, and confidence around money.
It’s not how much you have — it’s how empowered you feel with it.
Ask yourself:
-
Do I feel in control of my finances?
-
Do I understand my spending and saving habits?
Small shift to try: Review your bank account for 2 minutes without judgment — just awareness.
8. Environmental Wellness
Your environment shapes your mood, energy, and motivation.
This includes your home, workspace, and the places you spend time.
Ask yourself:
-
Does my space support my best self?
-
Is there clutter I can clear or beauty I can add?
Small shift to try: Choose one area to refresh — your desk, closet, or morning routine space.
How to Use the Wellness Wheel in Your Daily Life
Here are three powerful ways to bring this tool into your routine:
1. Rate Each Section
Choose a number 1–10 for each dimension based on how supported you currently feel.
2. Identify the Gaps
Notice which areas feel strong and which feel neglected.
3. Choose One Area to Focus On
You don’t need to “fix” everything at once.
Choose ONE area and take ONE small aligned action each day.
The goal is not perfection — it’s awareness, alignment, and sustainable growth.
